As a leading producer and distributor of gourmet coffee beans, Café SATI is known throughout the industry for satisfying the discerning tastes of coffee drinkers worldwide. In order to meet increasing demands for the company's first-class coffees, the company's Polish subsidiary Café Sati Polska Sp. z o.o - whose coffee is sold by Eastern Europe's most prestigious supermarkets and retailers - upgraded production processes at its Kwidzyn-based manufacturing facility, located northwest of Warsaw. The company wanted an automated conveying solution that would ensure a safe environment for workers and a premium product for customers.
"We continuously look for innovative solutions that allow us to improve the ways that we do business," said Grzegorz Kasikowski, technical chief of production at Café SATI. "It was important to prevent any scattering of coffee beans during transport, and we wanted to make certain that the external atmosphere had no influence on the product." To accomplish these objectives, Cafe SATI worked closely with PIAB vacuum experts, who installed two completely enclosed industrial vacuum conveyors (IC33). One conveyor is used for transporting the beans from the roaster to a silo, which holds the coffee, and the other is used for conveying the coffee to the sachet packaging machine.
In addition to keeping the beans protected from external elements, the IC33 conveyor system requires no lubrication, making it easier to clean compared to traditional mechanical belt alternatives. Additionally, because the IC is oil-free, there is no risk of product contamination, which ensures the safe transportation of Café SATI's premium product.
"We strive to maintain our reputation as an industry leader by applying the same gold-standard criteria of coffee bean selection that our company founders have built," said Mr. Kasikowski. "The new conveying system has helped us to increase manufacturing efficiencies while still allowing us to provide our customers with the exquisite coffee products that they have come to depend on us for."
