Underpinning its commitment to provide OEMs with the same quality of spares and service anywhere in the world, pump and compressor manufacturer Rietschle Thomas has introduced 'Rietschle Thomas Originals' - an initiative from its Worldwide Service operation designed to protect customers from poor quality counterfeit spare parts.

In a major branding exercise, all Rietschle Thomas (and Welch Rietschle Thomas) spare part packaging will carry the Originals logo, with the tag line 'Original parts - Original quality.' It will be prominently printed on the packaging box sides and ends, and reversed white out of black on packaging tape and self adhesive labels. Blister packs and backing boards will have multiple logo designs, and all pumps repaired in Rietschle Thomas workshops will carry an Originals logo tag.

"Counterfeiting is not a victimless crime," explained Noel West, managing director of Rietschle Thomas Worldwide Service. "Fake spare parts and consumables often have an operational life that is a fraction of the genuine article. A premature part failure or pump shut down may not have the potentially fatal consequences of counterfeit car or aircraft spares, but an unexpected production line shutdown is hugely expensive for customers, particularly those in process industries or with JIT delivery contracts."

The introduction of 'Originals' is intended to add value, and to emphasise the quality of the Rietschle Thomas spare parts offering. It is the latest initiative in its five year programme to develop the existing network of 40 Rietschle Thomas service centres.
