Telford based Busch (UK) Ltd is the official sponsor of the 2006 Busch Ironbridge Half Marathon for the tenth year running. Pardon the pun! This year the race takes place on Sunday 26th March from the new location of Telford Town Park Arena. The pump and blower manufacturer, which has its UK headquarters on Hortonwood, has donated over £700 to cover the costs of the event and to ensure all money raised by competitors will go direct to the nominated charity.
The benefactor of this year's marathon, organised by the Telford Harriers running club, is the Severn Hospice - Telford Appeal. Lucy Proctor, fundraising manager at Severn Hospice in Telford, said: "It's fantastic to see a local business having such an active interest in the local community. Busch has been tremendous in its support, both on a financial and operational level."
Ian Graves, managing director at Busch, will be personally competing in the event. He said: "We're delighted to be involved in an event which brings together the people of Shropshire for such a worthy cause. I thought it was important to have an active involvement, so I'll be joining all the other fundraisers for what I hope will be a very enjoyable day."
All money raised for the hospice will go towards the construction of a new purpose built hospice at Apley Castle
