Inficon, which manufactures instrumentation and process control software for the semiconductor and vacuum-coating industries and other industrial applications, has been awarded a contract valued at USD 3 million from a major US semiconductor equipment manufacturer for its UL5000 helium leak detectors. Deliveries will continue through to 2010.

Lukas Winkler, president and chief executive officer of Inficon, comments: "This multi-year contract demonstrates the confidence our customers have in Inficon and our market-leading products. After a competitive evaluation process, this long-time customer again chose Inficon helium leak detectors for quality testing in the manufacture of components and systems. The next-generation UL5000 replaces Inficon equipment currently in use and replaces other manufacturers' units with Inficon high-performance leak detectors, expanding our presence in this important market."

The Inficon UL5000 helium leak detector is designed to meet the most critical and demanding leak detection applications for testing the integrity of large vacuum chambers and components. Featuring Inficon proprietary software algorithms I-CAL and Hydro-S in a field-proven system design, the UL5000 provides the testing flexibility, high sensitivity, and quick accurate results needed to optimize productivity in manufacturing.
