Oxford Instruments was again exhibiting at the Annual Physics Society meeting in Denver this year. For the first time, the company displayed the range of products and services offered by Austin Scientific, part of the Oxford Instruments group based in Texas. Austin Scientific specializes in the supply and repair of cryogenic systems, including cryopumps, cold heads and helium compressors.

Interest was heaviest in the 10K GM cryo-cooler, the technical core of the company's line of Cryo-Plex cryopumps. Also of significant interest was the M600 helium compressor, capable of efficiently driving multiple cryopumps. Many universities and research centers are struggling to upgrade older CTI compressors, and are finding the modular and fully repairable M600 to be preferable to the CTI9600.

Oxford Instruments used the APS meeting to launch a range of new products including a Cryofree dilution refrigerator, a helium recondensing system, a 16T Active Shield magnet and a process tool for fabricating nanofibres and carbon nanotubes.
