A new series of vacuum cups introduced by Techno-Sommer Automatic, feature built-in vacuum generators for pick and place operations involving any non-porous material. Ferrous materials, for instance, sometimes exhibit a 'slide' motion when manoeuvered by magnetic grippers. This problem is often corrected with the use of suction cups. These units are available on a special free trial evaluation basis.
The built-in venturi vacuum generator eliminates the need to use a separate vacuum pump and results in a compact, simple to use, and highly reliable unit to operate since only compressed air is needed. The cup is molded in neoprene and is optionally available in silicone which is heat resistant to 200degC. Identified as the SG & SM Series, they include cup diameters which range from 1 mm to 130 mm. The height of the units range from 26 mm to 73 mm. They can be attached to a robot arm with their built-in mounting stud. These suction cups are available without the vacuum generators. In addition, torrodial, oval, bellow, and knobbed vacuum cups are offered.
