PIAB announces the release of its Adjustable Vacuum Palletising (AVP) system. PIAB's AVP is a flexible new palletising solution for packaging applications in a variety of industries, including food, beverage, chemical, pharmaceutical and personal care. The AVP features a unique flexible, modular design that is easily expandable, in order to accommodate for unexpected dissimilarities in product size - without the need for additional end effectors. Additionally, PIAB's AVP is manually adjustable on the X and Y axes, making it simple to configure, and thus reducing changeover and downtime.

"The growing trend toward mass customization in the packaging industry is changing the shapes and sizes of boxes and containers that come through production lines," says Thomas Lindahl, global packaging segment manager at PIAB AB. "PIAB's AVP system provides the flexibility, quick changeover, energy efficiency and speed to palletise a variety of products in less time."

The AVP includes PIAB's Vacuum Gripper System (VGS 3010), in which a COAX vacuum cartridge is integrated with a DURAFLEX suction cup in a single unit. PIAB's patented COAX multi-stage ejector technology integrates the internal components of a multi-stage pump into a vacuum cartridge. The result is a smaller vacuum unit that consumes less air than conventional ejectors while providing up to three times more vacuum flow.
