New vacuum pump isolates contamination

AC Engineeringvisit website

AC Engineering has developed a disposable vacuum pump which is part of the waste canister to isolate contaminants. Suctioning of contaminated fluids, particularly medical suctioning involves contamination of the pump as well as the vacuum regulation system, which is in fluid communication with the suctioned matter. While disposable canisters are widely employed, to contain the contaminated fluids, the pumps which evacuate these canisters draw contaminated air, and become contaminated, posing a health risk in medical environments. The vacuum regulators as well as the vacuum sensors in these systems are also exposed to the contaminated suctioned fluids, whereby cleaning and disinfecting them is a tedious and costly task.

The AC pump provides for complete isolation between the pump drive and the disposable contaminated system alleviating the need to clean or disinfect the pump. Additionally, the waste canister has an integral, disposable, vacuum regulator which regulates the vacuum of the disposable suction pump. Low in cost, high performance disposable pump plus the vacuum regulator and canister provide an excellent alternative to cleaning and disinfecting.
