DVP says that with its WR series of oil lubricated vacuum pumps, it has developed a solution for the glass machining industry that eliminates the need for water to cool the pump that is typically needed with the use of liquid ring pumps, and hence eliminates many of the associated problems.
The company argues that the high levels of water consumption typical of liquid ring pumps, and the need to dispose of the waste water afterwards, are contributing to economic and environmental problems. Liquid ring pumps need clean and cooled water to operate and so to generate a vacuum. That means water treatment and cooling systems are need, which implies costs of installation and operation. Then there is the question of disposal of the waste water afterwards.
By contrast, the WR series pumps not only do not use water, but they also guarantee better vacuum levels, fewer service procedures and lower installation and operating costs. The lubricating oil used by the pumps is recovered at the pump exhaust, and collected to be reused after filtration.
