Becker has launched a new version of its VTLF 250 oil-free, air cooled rotary vane vacuum pump. The new VTLF 2.250 provides an enlarged filter surface, reduced sound levels, optimised positioning of the grease nipples, and reduced weight.
The VTLF 2.250 delivers vacuum to 200mbar absolute, with 250m3/hr flow rate. It is available with either 5.5kW or 6.4kW motors (50/60Hz), which provide a shaft capacity of 4.5kW and 6.0kW respectively.
The filter surface has been enlarged in the new design, with the red varnished filter providing a surface area of 22cm2, compared with 11.5cm2 for the internal filter on the VLTF 250 and 12.4cm2 for its external filter. A further enhancement is a transparent filter cover in series.
The VTLF 2.250 is significantly quieter than the VTLF 250, with sound levels of 77dB(A) for the 50Hz models and 79db(A) for the 60Hz models, compared with the previous 81db(A) of the VTLF 250 range. The new design also optimises the position of grease nipples, putting them behind the filter cover to protect them against dust. And they have been coloured red for easy location.
The new design provides an option for a non-return valve, as did the VTLF 250. But while the older model could only provide this in conjunction with an expensive add-on fitting such as an elbow, the VTLF 2.250 has optimised the position of this non-return valve inside the filter housing.
